I've used Camtasia for screen capture and found it to be quite good.

I've used Morae for usability testing and I must say that I find it wonderful. It has its cons but in general it makes many things much easier.

Pros:
- Record computer screen and various other inputs such as webcam, audio, keystrokes, mouseclicks, screen text, etc
- search selectively for recorded inputs and to add in markers at selective points
- export searched info into excel for analyse
- Basic functions are easy to use
- Allows remote viewing. That is another computer can be connected to the tester's computer(through cables or internet) and you can moniter the tester's actions at your own computer during the test. (some lag may occur)
- personal and effective service provided when posting questions to the techsmith(Morae's developer) support team (through their website)

Cons:
- previous versions seem problematic, upgraded version was required before it can be used
- compatibility problems with some codecs (was unable to use on my laptop when ffdshow codec was installed, had to uninstall before morae could be use)
- As support is through posting on techsmith's website, delay is expected
- Expensive to purchase ($1800 for student copy with only 1 license)
- recordings can only be viewed through the manager which can only be installed on one computer thus portability is low
